I’m a teacher who currently lives in Melbourne, Australia but as much as I love what I do and where I live, I know it’s not my entire story.
At the end of the year I will be leaving my job of four years- one which has offered deep comfort and security- and travelling to northern Thailand to volunteer as a teacher of English to Burmese refugees. Beyond that, I’m planning on travelling around South East Asia without a return ticket and without a job or a roadmap to come home to…
I’ve always had a 5 year plan. I’ve always known what I want to do. I’ve always been in control. Now, it’s time to give my control up to the one who is actually in control and let my life take a few turns which I’m not going to see coming. I’m looking forward to this in the same way that one looks forward to life saving but risky surgery. It’s terrifying but it’s going to be so very, very beneficial in oh so many ways.
This blog is designed to follow my paths as they wind and warp and veer and vary. It will feature stories of faith, food, fitness, floating markets, flops, fear, foreign soil and familiar territory. It may contain poetry. It will certainly contain overwritten prose. It will always sound like me though. This blog will document my planning, my processes and my search for purpose.
Thank you for joining me. I hope to hear from you.
